Forchlorfenuron (CPPU)
Treatment with Forchlorfenuron can significantly increase the fruit-setting rate of bottle gourds and accelerate their enlargement, thereby improving fruit quality. Approximately 45 days after transplanting in a greenhouse setting, spraying the ovaries of female flowers with a Forchlorfenuron solution at a concentration of 20–50 mg/L can boost the fruit-setting rate from 60% to 100% and significantly promote fruit enlargement.
4-Chlorophenoxyacetic Acid (4-CPA)
During the bud stage of bottle gourds, dipping or spraying the buds with a solution of 4-CPA at a concentration of 20–30 mg/L can induce the plants to produce seedless fruits under low-temperature conditions. During the flowering stage (post-pollination), dipping or spraying the inflorescences with a 20–30 mg/L solution can facilitate fruit setting under low temperatures. Under normal temperature conditions, dipping or spraying the buds and flowers with a 15–25 mg/L solution not only promotes fruit setting and the formation of seedless fruits, but also accelerates fruit enlargement, hastens maturity, and induces a dwarfing effect on the plants.
