Thiocyclam 50%SP

Thiocyclam has a slow-acting toxic effect on pests and a short residual period, providing good control of lepidopteran and coleopteran pests. It is mainly used for rice pests, achieving a control rate of over 90%. For example, it is effective against rice stem borers (both rice stem borers and rice leaf rollers).

Thiocyclam is a selective insecticide with stomach, contact, and systemic effects, capable of apical transmission. It has a persistent effect of 7 to 14 days against Lepidoptera and Coleoptera pests. It also controls parasitic nematodes, such as the rice white-tip nematode, and has some effectiveness against rust and white panicle on some crops. It can control the yellow stem borer, rice leaf roller, striped stem borer, rice thrips, leafhoppers, rice gall midge, planthoppers, peach aphids, apple aphids, apple spider mites, pear star caterpillars, citrus leafminers, and vegetable pests.

Dosage: 88%TC, 50%SP

Thiocyclam features:

  • Unique mechanism of action: It acts on the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) in the insect nervous system, blocking nerve conduction and causing paralysis and death. It exhibits no cross-resistance with organophosphates or pyrethroids, making it suitable for resistance management.
  • Strong systemic absorption and permeability allow it to be rapidly absorbed by plant roots and leaves and distributed throughout the plant, making it highly effective against harbouring pests (such as borers). It has both contact and stomach toxicity.
  • Long-lasting effect: approximately 5-7 days in the field, requiring timely supplemental application based on insect infestation.
  • Environmental compatibility: It degrades rapidly in soil (half-life approximately 3-7 days), resulting in a low risk of residual disease.
  •  Moderate toxicity to birds and bees (avoid application during flowering) and relatively safe against predatory natural enemies (ladybugs and lacewings).

Applicable:

Lepidoptera: Chilo suppressalis, Striped stem borer, Rice leaf roller, Diamondback moth, Cabbage looper.

Coleoptera: Flea beetles, Leaf beetles.

Diptera: Leaf miner, Seed fly.
