Buprofezin is a novel selective insecticide that inhibits insect growth and development. It has strong contact action and also stomach poison effect. Its mechanism of action is to inhibit chitin synthesis and interfere with metabolism in insects, causing deformities in nymphs after molting or wing deformities in adults, leading to slow death. It generally takes 3-7 days to show effects after application. It has no direct killing effect on adults, but it can shorten their lifespan, reduce egg production, and produce mostly sterile eggs. Even if the larvae hatch, they die quickly.
Which pests does Buprofezin mainly control?
It has good control effects on planthoppers, leafhoppers, whiteflies, and scale insects (all belonging to the order Hemiptera). It also has long-lasting larval-killing activity against some Coleoptera pests and mites.
