Dikegulac-sodium SL

Common Name: Dikegulac-sodium
Trade Names: Atrinal, Dikegulac
Chemical Name: β-2,3:4,6-Di-O-isopropylidene-α-L-xylo-2-hexulofuranosonic acid (sodium salt)
CAS Number: 18467-77-1
Molecular Formula: C12H22O7 (acid form)
Molecular Weight: 274.3 (acid form)

Physicochemical Properties:

Both the pure acid and its sodium salt are white crystals. The acid form has poor water solubility and is prone to hydrolysis, whereas the sodium salt is stable (melting point >300°C). Solubility (at 25°C, g/L): water 590, ethanol 230; acetone, cyclohexanone, and DMF <10. It is photostable and does not hydrolyze in media with a pH of 7–9.
Toxicity: Low toxicity
Main Formulations: 50 g/L and 200 g/L soluble concentrates (SL)

Functional Characteristics:

Dikegulac-sodium is a systemic plant growth regulator. It is absorbed by the plant and translocated to the stem tips, where it breaks apical dominance and promotes lateral branch growth. It functions primarily by inhibiting the activity of auxins, gibberellins, and cytokinins, and by inducing ethylene biosynthesis.
