Physicochemical properties
Pure product is a white crystal; melting point: 167–169°C; density: 1.412 g/cm³. Solubility (25°C, g/L): water 4.6, acetonitrile 180, toluene 9, methanol 10.7. Good stability.

Functional characteristics
Dimethipin accelerates cell senescence and interferes with plant protein synthesis; it can be used as a defoliant and desiccant.
Dimethipin application for cotton
Cotton
Apply 16–40 g of dimethipin per mu (diluted with water) via manual or aerial spraying 7–14 days before harvest, when 80% of the cotton bolls have opened. Treatment effectively promotes defoliation 15–20 days post-application, achieving a leaf drop rate of over 95% and a boll opening rate of over 98%.
Dimethipin application precautions
① Dimethipin degrades relatively slowly within the plant.
② Dimethipin acts slowly; while it is somewhat effective at accelerating seed desiccation, its control over seed moisture content is not ideal. Compared to other desiccants, it may require earlier application or multiple treatments.
