Physicochemical properties
The technical grade product is a pale yellow, homogeneous, transparent liquid. It is readily soluble in organic solvents such as acetone, methanol, benzene, ethyl acetate, tetrahydrofuran, dioxane, dimethylformamide, and dimethyl sulfoxide, and sparingly soluble in petroleum ether and water. It is unstable upon exposure to air and light and unstable under strongly acidic conditions, but remains stable under weakly acidic, neutral, and alkaline conditions.
Toxicity: Low toxicity
Main formulation: 20% furalane emulsifiable concentrate (EC)
Functional characteristics
Furalane is isolated and refined from plant stalks; its biological activity enhances plant drought and salt tolerance.
