humic acid , HA

Humic acid is a mixture of complex substances with similar but distinct structural compositions. It appears as black or brownish-black powder, containing about 50% carbon, 2%~6% hydrogen, 30%~50% oxygen, 1%~6% nitrogen, as well as sulfur and other elements. Its main functional groups include carboxyl group, hydroxyl group, methoxy group, and carbonyl group. The relative density ranges from 1.330 to 1.448, and it is soluble in water, acids and alkalis.

Physicochemical Properties

Humic acid is a mixture of complex substances with similar but distinct structural compositions. It appears as black or brownish-black powder, containing about 50% carbon, 2%~6% hydrogen, 30%~50% oxygen, 1%~6% nitrogen, as well as sulfur and other elements. Its main functional groups include the carboxyl group, the hydroxyl group, the methoxy group, and the carbonyl group. The relative density ranges from 1.330 to 1.448, and it is soluble in water, acids and alkalis.

Functional Characteristics

Fulvic acid is classified as a plant growth promoter and generally categorized as a fertilizer or trace fertilizer. It can be absorbed by plant roots, stems, and leaves. It promotes root development, enhances plant respiration, reduces leaf stomatal opening, lowers crop transpiration, and regulates the activity of certain enzymes — promoting catalase activity and inhibiting indoleacetic acid oxidase activity.

Application Technology

Break dormancy, improve germination rate, and enhance drought resistance

Wheat

Soak wheat seeds in 1.67% fulvic acid solution for 30 minutes. Compared with the control group, the germination rate increases by about 4.87% after 24 hours, which can improve the germination rate and promote seedling growth of wheat.

Rapeseed, millet, sesame, rice, corn, peanut

Soak seeds in 0.5% fulvic acid solution for 2 hours, air-dry, then sow. It improves seed germination potential and germination rate, and enhances seedling stress resistance.

Melon, watermelon, cucumber, sunflower

Soak seeds in 0.5% fulvic acid solution for 10–20 hours, air-dry, then sow. It improves seed germination potential and germination rate, and enhances seedling stress resistance.

Alfalfa

Soak seeds in 0.05% fulvic acid solution for 10–20 hours to improve seed germination potential, germination rate, and seedling stress resistance.

Enhance stress resistance and increase yield

Wheat

Irrigate field wheat with 0.2% fulvic acid solution. It can significantly increase chlorophyll content at the seedling and regreening stages, improve seedling growth quality, and enhance seedling stress resistance.

Soybean

Foliar spray with 0.16% fulvic acid solution at the early flowering stage of soybean to enhance stress resistance and promote yield increase.

Tomato & Strawberry

Foliar spray with 0.04% fulvic acid solution at the seedling stage, early flowering stage, and young fruit stage of tomato to achieve a significant yield increase.

For strawberries, apply 3 kg of fulvic acid per mu by flushing fertilization after transplanting to increase yield.

Potato

Irrigate the continuous cropping potato farmland with 0.05% fulvic acid solution. It can mitigate the decrease of leaf chlorophyll, proline, and soluble sugar content caused by continuous cropping; increase starch content, vitamin C content, and soluble protein content of potato tubers; relatively improve the activity of superoxide dismutase and catalase, and reduce malondialdehyde content and reactive oxygen species level.

Chinese cabbage, fennel, coriander, radish

Foliar spray with 0.25%~0.34% fulvic acid solution at the middle growth stage for obvious yield increase.

Apple

Before drought stress occurs, irrigate roots with a 500 mg/L fulvic acid solution or spray foliage with a 1000 mg/L solution for a good drought resistance effect.

Sugarcane

Foliar spray with a 1000 mg/L fulvic acid solution at the late growth stage of sugarcane to significantly increase yield and sugar content.

Peanut

Foliar spray with 1000 mg/L fulvic acid solution, respectively, at the seedling stage, initial flowering stage, and pegging stage to improve drought resistance and significantly increase yield.

Corn

Spray 133 mg/L potassium fulvic acid solution at the 7-leaf stage of corn, which can increase grain number per ear, 1000-grain weight, and overall yield.

Precautions

Fulvic acid is a broad-spectrum plant growth regulator, mainly used for drought resistance, disease prevention, and yield increase. The dosage is flexible, with generally no toxicity and side effects.
