Application of Plant Growth Regulators for Celery Stalk Elongation and Yield Enhancement

Triacontanol
Treating celery with triacontanol promotes plant growth and increases yield. According to trials conducted by the Nanchang Vegetable Research Institute, applying a 0.5 mg/L triacontanol solution—at a rate of 50 kg per *mu*—after celery transplanting accelerates plant growth, increases chlorophyll content, and enhances photosynthesis. This treatment involves spraying once approximately every 10 days (for a total of 1–2 applications), with spraying discontinued 15 days prior to harvest. Furthermore, the treatment improves quality: Vitamin C content increases by 6.93%, and sugar content rises by 3.7%.
Brassinolide
Treatment with brassinosteroids results in a 5%–12% increase in plant height and an 8%–15% increase in plant weight. Simultaneously, chlorophyll content rises by 0.55%–2.81%, and the celery leaves take on a deep green, glossy appearance. Foliar spraying with a 0.01 mg/L brassinosteroid solution during the celery's heart-forming stage yields particularly effective results in boosting production. An additional foliar application 10 days prior to harvest further enhances physiological activity and stress resistance, making the crop more suitable for long-distance storage and transport.
Sodium Nitrophenolate atonik
After celery transplanting, applying a 2.3 mg/L sodium nitrophenolate solution at 15-day intervals—for a total of three applications—can increase yield and reduce cellulose content.
Gibberellic Acid (GA3)

Approximately 15 days prior to harvest, spraying with 20–50 mg/L gibberellic acid enhances cold resistance, causes the leaves to lighten in color, and accelerates growth. This results in elongated leaf stalks (the edible portion), reduced cellulose content, and an increase in yield of approximately 20%. (Note: When applying gibberellic acid to celery, the concentration must not be excessively high to prevent the plants from becoming overly elongated or spindly. Fertilizer application should be increased within 1–2 days following the gibberellic acid spray, and the crop should be harvested in a timely manner to prevent plant senescence.)
