Cherry Flowering & Fruit Development Control
Regulation of Cherry Blossom and Fruit Development
Gibberellic Acid (GA3)
Spraying a 10 mg/L gibberellic acid solution 10 and 20 days after flowering increases the fruit set rate of sweet cherries; it also boosts individual fruit weight, soluble solids, and sugar content while reducing acidity, thereby improving overall fruit quality. A single application of 20 mg/L gibberellic acid 23 days before harvest significantly reduces fruit rot and skin cracking, enhancing the fruit's market quality.
Naphthaleneacetic Acid (NAA)
Spraying new shoots and fruit stalks twice with a 0.5–1 mg/L naphthaleneacetic acid solution—with a 10-day interval between applications—10 to 20 days before harvest effectively prevents pre-harvest fruit drop.
Forchlorfenuron (CPPU)
Uniformly spraying a 5 mg/L solution 15 days after the cherry blossom-drop stage promotes fruit enlargement and increases individual fruit weight, while also enhancing coloration.
