Uniconazole
When chrysanthemums are treated with uniconazole at concentrations of 50–600 mg/L, the onset of budding is generally delayed by 3–8 days and peak flowering by 7–16 days compared to the control, while the overall flowering duration is extended by 5–14 days.
Gibberellic Acid (GA3)
Spraying with an appropriate concentration of gibberellic acid can induce earlier flowering, shorten the flowering period, and increase plant height. Applying GA3 at a rate of 0.01 mg per plant to the growing points of cold-requiring, photoperiod-insensitive chrysanthemums can induce bolting and flowering. For potted cineraria, spraying with 500–1000 mg/L GA3 when flower buds are 4–5 mm in diameter significantly accelerates the opening of the terminal bud. Spraying with 100–200 mg/L GA3 when chrysanthemum buds are showing color but have not yet begun to fade (applying lightly is crucial, as uneven spraying can cause flower malformation) effectively promotes early flowering. Spraying 700 mg/L GA3 every 10 days from mid-September until the budding stage increases the number of florets and enhances POD and CAT activities in the petals; by delaying the peak of POD and CAT activities, this treatment extends the chrysanthemum's flowering period.
Ethephon
Foliar application of ethephon at various concentrations significantly regulates the flowering time of autumn chrysanthemums grown under short-day conditions. Specifically, applying a 50 mg/L ethephon solution during autumn and winter cultivation effectively delays the onset of flowering, although excessively high concentrations may prevent flower formation.
