Ethephon
Spraying ethephon at a concentration of 200 mg/L seven to eight days before harvest can result in a fruit drop rate of 98% within five to six days, with complete fruit detachment achieved in six to seven days. For the "Jinsi" (Golden Thread) small jujube variety, the concentration can be increased to 400 mg/L; this yields a fruit drop rate of 72.3%–95.6% within five to eight days, causing all mature fruit to fall. A combined approach—using both chemical induction and manual knocking—can be employed: five to six days after spraying, gently tapping the branches with a wooden pole causes the fruit to fall, allowing for a single-pass harvest. This method saves labor and minimizes damage to the tree. (Note: Results vary depending on spray concentration and ambient temperature. Jujubes are highly sensitive to ethephon; concentrations exceeding 300 mg/L in aqueous solution may cause phytotoxicity, so caution is advised.)
