Gibberellic Acid
When head lettuce has developed 4 to 10 leaves, spraying with a 5–10 mg/L gibberellic acid solution can promote bolting and flowering prior to head formation; this accelerates seed maturation by 15 days and increases seed yield.
Daminozide
When the lettuce begins to elongate, spraying the plants 2 to 3 times with 4,000–8,000 mg/L daminozide—at intervals of 3 to 5 days—can significantly inhibit bolting, increase stem thickness, and enhance market value.
Maleic Hydrazide
Treating lettuce seedlings with a 100 mg/L maleic hydrazide solution during the growth stage can also inhibit bolting and flowering.
