Lychee Winter Shoot Control & Flush Inhibition

Controlling the Emergence of Winter Shoots in Lychee

Ethephon
Typically, a 320 mg/L ethephon solution is sprayed just as the lychee winter shoots are about to emerge; the inhibitory effect lasts for 20–30 days. If suppression is insufficient, a follow-up spray of 250–300 mg/L ethephon may be applied.
Paclobutrazol
Spraying a 290–380 mg/L paclobutrazol solution after the autumn shoots have matured but before winter shoots emerge retards longitudinal elongation while enhancing lateral growth. It increases the number of branches, thickens stems, and boosts chlorophyll content. Additionally, it inhibits apical bud growth, promotes lateral bud sprouting and flower bud formation, increases the number of flower buds, improves fruit set and quality, and enhances stress resistance (such as cold and drought tolerance).
