Application of Plant Growth Regulators for Preserving Rosa chinensis

6-BA: 

Cut roses lose water quickly, often exhibiting "neck bending." Adding 5 mg/L of 6-BA as a preservative can effectively extend the vase life of cut roses to up to 12 days, enhancing their ornamental value.

6-BA and Ascorbic Acid: 

2% sucrose + 200 mg/L 8-hydroxyquinoline + 100 mg/L citric acid + 40 mg/L 6-BA + 0.8 g/L ascorbic acid is also effective for preserving cut roses in the vase.

1-Methylcyclopropene: 

Fumigating cut roses with 1-8 mg/m³ of 1-methylcyclopropene in a sealed environment for 4-8 hours can extend the ornamental time of cut flowers under normal temperature vase conditions, delay the peak of peroxidase activity in the cut flowers, increase the sugar content of the petals during vase life, and improve water absorption, thereby delaying the occurrence of stem bending and blue staining. Meanwhile, instrument measurements showed that this treatment significantly reduced the rate of change in the stem and flower weight of cut flowers, and also delayed the appearance of the peak peroxidase activity.
