Shiitake Yield Boost & Fruiting Body Development
Application of Plant Growth Regulators to Increase Shiitake Mushroom Yield
Ethephon
Spraying a 50 mg/L ethephon solution three times—during the mushroom bud stage and the cap expansion stage—at a rate of 50 mL per square meter of substrate promotes bud formation and early maturation, resulting in a yield increase of approximately 20%. However, excessive concentrations or application volumes can have an inhibitory effect.
Triacontanol
Spraying a 0.5 mg/L triacontanol solution during the mushroom bud stage significantly boosts shiitake yields, increasing the output of the first flush by 26%.
Gibberellic Acid
Spraying the cultivation substrate with gibberellic acid at a concentration of 0.5–1 mg/kg (relative to the substrate) can increase yield by 41.7% and accelerate mushroom emergence by 3–5 days.
Zeatin
Spraying a 1 mg/L zeatin solution during the mushroom bud stage significantly increases shiitake yields, raising the output of the first flush by 17%–20%.
Naphthaleneacetic Acid (NAA) and Triacontanol
Alternating sprays of a mixture containing 5 mg/L NAA, 0.5 mg/L triacontanol, 0.05% urea, and potassium dihydrogen phosphate—applied after young mushrooms enter the cap differentiation stage—accelerate maturation and produce mushrooms with large caps and short stalks.
