Pure product appears as yellow to orange crystals; melting point 101–103°C; vapor pressure 3.2 × 10⁻⁵ Pa at 25°C; relative density 1.54. Solubility (25°C, g/L): water 0.00007, toluene 400, acetone 560, ethanol 18, n-octanol 6.8, n-hexane 14. Stable to hydrolysis at pH 5–9; sensitive to light.

Functional Characteristics:
Flumetralin is a plant growth regulator with both contact and localized systemic activity. It affects the functions of enzyme systems within the plant. Commonly used as a tobacco sucker control agent, it is absorbed through the stem and leaf surfaces and translocated to the axillary buds, where it inhibits the division and growth of meristematic cells, thereby suppressing axillary bud sprouting.
