Product Details
Common English name: Diphenylurea sulfonic calcium
Chemical name: Calcium (N, N-diphenylurea)-4,4-disulfonate
Molecular formula: C13H10O7CaN2S2
Relative molecular mass: 410.44
Physicochemical properties
The technical-grade product is a light brownish-yellow solid with a decomposition temperature of 300°C (at atmospheric pressure). Its solubility in water is 122.47 g/L (at 20°C). It is stable against acids, alkalis, and heat, but decomposes under light exposure.
Toxicity: Slightly toxic
Main formulations: 95% diphenylurea sulfonic calcium technical concentrate; 6.5% diphenylurea sulfonic calcium aqueous solution
Functional characteristics
Diphenylurea sulfonic acid calcium is a plant growth regulator that can increase crop yields. It also enhances the crop's resistance to pests and diseases, cold and frost, drought, and dry, hot winds.
Application of diphenylurea sulfonic calcium in agriculture
Cotton
Spraying with a 50–75 mg/L solution three times—during the seedling stage, squaring stage, and early flowering stage—promotes cotton growth and development. It enhances the plant's drought resistance, reduces the shedding of squares and bolls, increases the number of bolls per plant, and promotes fiber development and dry matter accumulation. This results in significant improvements in both cotton yield and quality, while remaining safe for the crop. Wheat
Treating seeds with a 100 mg/L solution can improve germination rates under drought conditions. Foliar spraying with a 100 mg/L solution during the seedling stage significantly boosts the activity of peroxidase, catalase, and superoxide dismutase, thereby enhancing the seedlings' stress resistance. Two consecutive applications of a 100–150 mg/L solution—administered before jointing and during the flowering stage—promote effective tillering, increase the ear-bearing rate, boost the number of grains per ear and the thousand-grain weight, and significantly increase overall yield.
Cucumber
For cucumbers, use a concentration of 10–20 mg/L. Begin spraying after the plants reach the 7-leaf stage, then apply once every 20 days for a total of 3–4 applications; this regulates growth, increases yield, promotes plant health, and enhances disease resistance.
Precautions
① Do not water the plants within 4 hours of spraying; if it rains during this period, re-apply the solution.
② The product can be mixed with standard pesticides but should not be mixed with foliar fertilizers.
③ The optimal times for spraying are before 10:00 AM or after 5:00 PM.
