Jujube Vegetative Flush Inhibition & Shoot Control
Application of Plant Growth Regulators to Inhibit Excessive Shoot Growth in Jujube Trees
Chlormequat Chloride
Spraying a 2,500–3,000 mg/L chlormequat chloride solution one or two times—prior to flowering and before the onset of rapid shoot growth—can inhibit excessive shoot growth and effectively control the elongation of primary shoots (jujube heads) and fruiting branches (jujube spurs).
Paclobutrazol
Spraying the entire tree with paclobutrazol solution—at a concentration of 1,000 mg/L for young trees and 2,000 mg/L for mature trees—when fruiting branches have developed 8–9 leaves (prior to flowering) can inhibit excessive shoot growth, improve fruit set, and increase yield.
Uniconazole and Maleic Hydrazide
After the second topping of the shoots, spraying twice with a mixture of 100 mg/L uniconazole and 500 mg/L maleic hydrazide (at a 14-day interval) can inhibit excessive shoot growth. This treatment reduces internode length and increases the thickness of primary shoots and secondary branches, resulting in a compact tree structure; it also enhances the fruit-bearing capacity of secondary branches and improves the tree's resilience against natural disasters.
