Gibberellic Acid
Applying hormones can break the dormancy of peony flower buds. Treating buds with 500 mg/L gibberellic acid yields significant results in inducing flowering; the process takes 40–45 days, and the resulting flowers are noticeably larger in diameter.
Ethephon
A single spray application of 400 mg/L ethephon can delay peony flowering, but it tends to cause flower deformities; adding gibberellic acid can mitigate these adverse effects.
