Peony Flower Forcing & Bloom Schedule
Application of Plant Growth Regulators in the Forcing and Flowering Schedule of Peonies
Gibberellic Acid
Applying hormones can break the dormancy of peony flower buds. Treating buds with 500 mg/L gibberellic acid yields significant results in inducing flowering; the process takes 40–45 days, and the resulting flowers are noticeably larger in diameter.
Ethephon
A single spray application of 400 mg/L ethephon can delay peony flowering, but it tends to cause flower deformities; adding gibberellic acid can mitigate these adverse effects.
