Application of Plant Growth Regulators to Promote Rooting in Privet Cuttings

Indole-3-butyric acid (IBA)
Propagation of *Ligustrum × vicaryi* (Golden-leaf Privet) via cuttings can be performed year-round, though the highest rooting rates are achieved between October and the following May. Select healthy, well-matured 1- to 2-year-old shoots; remove the lower leaves and retain 3–5 pairs of upper leaves to form the cuttings. Briefly dipping the base of the cuttings in a 500 mg/L IBA solution prior to planting can result in a rooting rate exceeding 90%.
1-Naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA)
Select vigorous shoots and prepare them as cuttings. Soaking the morphological base of the cuttings in a 30–70 mg/L NAA solution for 24 hours promotes rooting; a concentration of 50 mg/L yields the best results, producing the highest number of roots (97%) and the fastest rooting speed.
IBA-NAA Rooting Powder
Briefly dipping (5–7 seconds) the base of prepared cuttings into a 1000 mg/L solution of IBA-NAA rooting powder prior to planting can significantly improve the survival rate of the cuttings.
